iGen Education Trust is a non-profit organisation whose primary objective is to make higher
education
in South Africa accessible and equitable for every qualifying student. This will ensure that
quality
education becomes a reality for ALL university students in South Africa regardless of race,
gender,
social status, economic background, religion or political affiliation.
Our desire is to give
each
student an equal chance to realize their full potential in life and contribute towards an
improved
quality of life for themselves and their families. In the long term, we see ourselves
influencing
the
design and delivery of education in South Africa. We believe high quality, purpose-driven
education
can
transform students into citizens who are able to contribute meaningfully in the provision of
solutions
needed to address social, political and economic challenges societies face today.
iGen Education Trust is committed to good governance which will promote
the organisation’s vision, strengthen the Board of Trustees (The Board) and
management accountability and build public trust. The primary role and
responsibility of The Board is to retain full, efficient and effective control of
The Trust, and serve as a decision-making hub and custodian of corporate
governance in the organisation. It will also act in the best interest of the Trust
and its Stakeholders at all times and serve as the Trust guardian of values
and ethics.
The Board is responsible for strategic direction, policy, boundaries and
oversight; monitoring performance and ensuring sound financial
management. The Trust’s governance framework supports the principles of
integrity, strong ethical values (responsibility, accountability, fairness and
transparency), diversity and excellence.
The Board and management recognise and acknowledge that iGen
Education Trust is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and is
therefore accountable to donors and stakeholders. As a result, The Board will
ensure that The Trust is annually audited and appropriate financial
statements are prepared (in line with the requirements of the NPO Act) to the
standards of generally accepted accounting practice.

Registration, tuition, prescribed books, approved study materials, accommodation and meals. Funding is automatically renewed with every progressive year of study.
Applications are processed by universities on the basis of academic ability and financial need of the applicant. The scholarship is not repayable.
Submit your application for funding together with your application to study to your tertiary institution.
By harnessing the immense power of collective giving, iGen enables students to receive tertiary education so they are equipped appropriately to tackle poverty, unemployment and inequality.
Your donation goes towards funding students in financial need, making sure South African tertiary education is accessible and equitable to all students. Almost all universities in South Africa are battling with high student debt and do not have adequate funds to maximise the impact of their offerings. By March 2019, students were owing different universities over R9 billion and we hope to assist in reducing this gap, and in eliminating it.
By donating at least R100 every month to iGen Education Trust, you can impact not just students but families and generationsAll the funds collected go to iGen Education Trust. Eighty percent (80%) goes directly to student fees and one percent (1%) covers operational costs. The rest, nineteen percent (19%), is used for comprehensive marketing to drive fund growth.
